Initiatives

The mission of the Juvenile Justice Fund is to facilitate the development of resources that provide comprehensive services to improve the lives and strengthen the families and youth served by the Fulton County Juvenile Court.

Angela's House
In an average month, the Court sees 12 girls who are victims of sexual exploitation, usually in the age range of 10-14. Until the Fund was established, no services existed to address their need for protection and special therapy. more>

CEASE
The Center to End Adolescent Sexual Exploitation (CEASE) advocates on behalf of adolescent girls identified in Juvenile Court proceedings as being victims of sexual exploitation. more>

Visitation Centers
A visitation center provides a safe, comfortable, neutral and accessible location for frequent visitations of children and their families during evening and weekend hours. more>

Multisystematic Therapy
MST has been acclaimed as one of the most effective forms of intervention for high risk delinquent youth by the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Juvenile Justice and Office of the Surgeon General. more>

Red Oak Collaborative
When the Court recognized a rising incidence of cases from the Red Oak community, it investigated the state of local community-based services and documented that the area had the lowest level in Fulton County. The Fund responded by designing the Red Oak Collaborative, a partnership of schools, Juvenile Court, and service providers that focuses on prevention education, communication classes, and life skills planning programs in after-school settings. more>

Special Educational Advocacy
Juvenile judges frequently encounter delinquency and truancy cases that are linked to poor school performance. National studies have shown that up to 40% of a juvenile court caseload can involve undiagnosed learning disabilities. The Fund has established a Special Education Advocate to provide expertise in this area. more>
